FIRE PROOFING
Intumescent paints are used in buildings as a passive fire protection measure to protect structural steel. Protection can be 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. The key feature is that they look much like a normal paint when applied but swell in the event of a fire insulating the structural steel members from high temperatures
